dfd backyard
Welcome to my backyard!
I have almost a half acre of property in Northern Utah. My property includes my house & garage and the rest is made up of a few garden areas.
The front yard is just a yard at this time just grass and a couple of trees and in dire need of some curb appeal. I spend most of my time in the backyard working on creating a wonderful sanctuary for me, my animals and for local wildlife.
My backyard gardens include the dog's yard, the sheep's barn yards, the cat's outdoor room, the garden beds, the gourd garden, wildflower field, tree forest & driveway garden. All are continuous works in progress but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Dog's Yard
a grassy side yard with one huge tree in the middle.

Sheep's barn yards

green grass pastures on both sides of the barn. the barn is an old cow milking barn that was probably built about 85 years ago.
Cat's Outdoor Room
the excavation of the hillside has been started. the outdoor cat's room will go here in summer.
Garden Bed Area
10 raised 4 x 8 planter beds in a fenced in area. plants include iris, catnip, african daisies, evening primrose, morning glory, gourds, tulips, daffodils and more

Gourd Garden
the 18 x 24 chicken coop had to come down before the wind blew it down. it was probably about 85 years old also but in very bad condition. this left a raised 18 x 24 planter bed in its place. next spring it will be converted into the gourd garden (and pumpkin patch).

Wildflower Field
billions of bachelor buttons. a plethora of poppies. and a bunch of other wildflowers to attract butterflies, birds and wildlife.
Tree Forest
got 5 new trees this year and plans for at least 5 to 8 more next year. these trees join the juniper trees that are already back there.

Driveway Garden
the long skinny driveway makes a better outdoor kitchen and patio than a place to park the truck. im going to plant vegetables and herbs in containers and add some benches and a picnic table...
